not Poverty But Poor Shall be Finished

Not poverty but poor shall die

Dalip singh Wasan, Advocate.

In countries like India, we would not be able to root out poverty, but there are chances that the people who are poor shall be finished within the next two decades because they are not getting all the facilities of life, they are not getting clean and proper food, they are not getting proper house accommodation, they are not getting proper clothes, they are not getting proper treatment when they are ill and they are not being provided with old age pension and other securities which are most needed on old age and when one is ill or infirm.

We have noted that in all these six decades, the state could not provide proper education, proper training, proper work and proper earning capacity to the poor and that is the reason most of the children from poor families are still found at work, begging and collecting valuables from the garbage. What shall be the future of this generation and what shall be the position who were not given proper education, proper training and proper adjustment during the past six decades. These people shall live a life and they shall die only when they are ill or complete their age span provided by God and till that date our state shall have to bear them in this region. They shall not live a life nor they shall allow others to live a life and till they are alive, we the people of India would not be able to tell the world at large that we are progressing and we shall reach with those who are already attained the status of developed countries.

When no suitable actions had been taken in India to root out poverty, it seems the state is waiting for the time when the poor shall finish and we shall claim that we could root out poverty from India. This is not the proper method and had the state taken right steps from the very beginning, the things would have been otherwise. first of we should have put our whole wisdom on the conditions of the poor and we could have removed all those hurdles one by one and at this stage most of the poor people could have been upgraded. If people are illiterate, fault lies on us. If people are not having training in one of the trade as per national requirement, the fault lies on our part. If people are unemployed, the fault lies on our part. These are the three basics which should have got the first attention from our side, but we had been ignoring all these three basics and that is the reason, these three problems are still there and till these problems remain in this country we would never be able to set the things right and we would never be able to root out poverty from India.

We cannot say that there are no competent people who had been holding the charge of this country. There had been wise people, but somehow they could not adopt the right out-way and they too had been working with those who were not experts in all these lines nor they were having any interest in bettering the conditions of the people of this country.

The state, the society and the people of this country and also the people living in other countries where there are poor people, must decide the right course. If they go on the present way, there are no chances that they shall be able to root out poverty from their countries. However there are chances that the poor shall die and poverty shall be a thing of the past. But this is not the right way because the poor have played a very important role in the history of each country and they had been doing all the manual work which the rich could not do and they had been getting very meager wages for that work and had been living with those wages which kept them poor. We should better the condition of the poor people because they too are backbone of the nation and must remain alive because rich people can spend money, but they cannot do manual work which only the poor do and construct each item which turns a country as a developed country. The poor must live and with them a nation shall live. The people who could collect more money must realize that still they need poor people to guard their wealth and without them their own life is not safe.

Effects of Global Warming on Agriculture and Food Supply

Effects of Global Warming on Agriculture and Food Supply

For a long time it has been believed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is going to be a positive one. This is because the rising level of carbon-dioxide resulted for global warming will help the greeneries for photosynthesis.

Thus there will be a rise of agricultural production and food supply. The theorem received a boost after the evidence of a sharp rise of barley production as one of the effects of global warming in Iceland which was quite impossible even few years ago.

But more recent experiments and researches have revealed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply are not that good after all. AN UNEP 2001 report on the global warming has predicted that USA is going to have more droughts, floods, landslides and storms.

Winter will gradually be shortened and sobered down, while summer will rise in expansion and severity. Along with this heavy rain, big storm, heavy snowfall, high sea level, increasing coastal erosion and other problems will occur.

Though as one of the effects of global warming, the overall food supply and production level is supposed to rise in USA, but the Great Plains will suffer with more droughts resulting for global warming.

Even now many effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply have been perceived. The popular maple syrup production of North east USA has diminished by 10%, moving its production zone to farther north for shorter and warmer winter.

On the other hand as one of the effects of global warming the south west USA is suffering from a water shortage which will increase in coming days. The zone has become dry for any standard agricultural production with an apprehension of resettling Dust Bowl of 1930s’ by the year 2030 for global warming.

Following a report of IPCC on the global warming, California’s snow covered Sierra Mountains can reduce in near future by up to 60-90%. This will create dire water shortage in summer, making the Central Valley area unsuitable for agricultural production for global warming. The State University of Colorado has declared that the area is going to be less productive due to effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply.

As the effects of global warming, the food supply production in Florida is going to suffer a lot due to frequent and large scale floods. Also one of the most profitable agricultural products of USA – corn will suffer a bad condition due to dry and hot atmosphere for global warming.

As another example of the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply – with the rise of temperature by 3 to 11 degrees in this century, the production rate of the main crops – the rice, corn, wheat, barley, soybeans and sorghum – will be cut down by 3-5% for each point rise of temperature for global warming.

However with all these effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply, new attempts have been made to adjust the agricultural and food production method according to the changing atmosphere. So to fight the effects of global warming, the researchers have established new methods of production with continuous revision of models. But still the best possible process to reduce the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is to be established.

Central San Diego Real Estate Market – Mid Year Snapshot Of Median Prices (2006) – Single Family Homes

Central San Diego Real Estate Market – Mid Year Snapshot of Median Prices (2006) – Single Family Homes

As of this writing, the San Diego real estate markets appears to have shifted from one that favors sellers to one that favors buyers. However, this premise may not hold true for all communities within San Diego, as median prices for some communities continue to rise while others fall.

While there are many metrics to evaluate the real estate pricing trends of a community, one commonly used parameter is to evaluate the median price of homes from one point in time against a prior point of time. The median price reflects the point at which half the homes are above a particular price point, and half the homes are below a particular price point. The median price metric provides one method to analyze the direction of home prices, but should not be used as the sole source of data from which to form conclusions.

The data below is a comparison of median prices for various communities in central San Diego County, comparing data from June 2005 against data for June 2006. This information is only one metric at a particular point in time, and other metrics or data from future months may support or dispute the pricing trends noted below. For some of the San Diego communities presented below, very few homes sold during June 2006, which diminishes the usefulness of the median price metric.

COMMUNITIES WITH INCREASES IN MEDIAN PRICE – SINGLE FAMILY HOMES – JUNE 2006

ADVISORY

Homebuyers and home sellers should keep in mind that the data above is simply a snapshot in time, and is not conclusive of the pricing trends for any community. For some communities presented above, very few homes were sold during June 2006, which makes the use of the median price metric of limited value. The data must be evaluated over a longer duration, and involve multiple metrics to fully understand enduring market trends. Contact your Realtor to obtain information about enduring market trends for any given community.

In the Bible versus the Quran: the Moon Stood Still at the Light of the Arrows

Posted in Stood on September 2nd, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

In the Bible versus the Quran: the Moon Stood Still at the Light of the Arrows

The Moon is mentioned in the Bible 41 times, 32 times in the Old Testament and nine times in the New Testament. The Moon is mentioned in the Noble Quran 25 times

In the Bible, Habakkuk 3:11 says that the sun and moon stood still in their places at the light of your arrows as they sped, at the flash of your glittering spear.

In the Quran, Verse 35:13 says that Allah subdued the light of the sun and the moon to the service of human beings; and He has disposed the sun and the moon, each, of them, is moving, in its course, to an appointed term; to the Day of Resurrection.

———————————————–

Habakkuk 3:11 in four different versions of the Bible:

New International Version

11 Sun and moon stood still in the heavens at the glint of your flying arrows, at the lightning of your flashing spear.

New American Standard Bible

11 Sun and moon stood in their places; They went away at the light of Your arrows, At the radiance of Your gleaming spear.

English Standard Version

11 The sun and moon stood still in their place at the light of your arrows as they sped, at the flash of your glittering spear.

King James Version

11The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

——-

The meaning of the verse:

Sun and Moon stopped in their tracks; your flashing arrows stopped them; your lightning-strike spears impaled them.

In other words, the verse says that the sun and moon stood still in their habitation at the light of your arrows as they sped, at the flash of your glittering spear.

It should be emphasized that the bible (Joshua 10) says also that the sun and the moon stood still for 24 hours in order to give Joshua the chance to kill thousands of kids, girls, women, young men and old men.

See the article: The Moon in the Bible versus the Quran (1) in this series (1-10).

———————————————–

Chapter 35: FATIR (THE ANGELS)

Verse 35:13 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

QARIB: he causes the night to enter into the day and the day into the night. he has subjected the sun and the moon each running for a named term. such is Allah, your lord. to him belongs the kingdom; and those whom you call upon, other than him, do not possess even as much as the membrane of a date-stone.

SHAKIR: he causes the night to enter in upon the day, and he causes the day to enter in upon the night, and he has made subservient (to you) the sun and the moon; each one follows its course to an appointed time; this is Allah, your lord, his is the kingdom; and those whom you call upon besides him do not control a straw.

PICKTHAL: he maketh the night to pass into the day and he maketh the day to pass into the night. he hath subdued the sun and moon to service. each runneth unto an appointed term. such is Allah, your lord; his is the sovereignty; and those unto whom ye pray instead of him own not so much as the white spot on a date-stone.

YUSUFALI: he merges night into day, and he merges day into night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. such is Allah your lord: to him belongs all dominion. and those whom ye invoke besides him have not the least power.

——-

The meaning of the verse:

Allah makes the night pass, enter, into the day, so that it becomes longer, and He makes the day pass into the night, so that it becomes longer.

Allah subdued the light of the sun and the moon to the service of human beings.  And He has disposed the sun and the moon, each, of them, is moving, in its course, to an appointed term; to the Day of Resurrection.

That is Allah, your Lord; to Him all sovereignty belongs.

It is Allah, your Lord, Who does so, not the deities;

His is the Sovereignty, the Storehouses of the universe

As for those on whom you call, whom you worship, besides Allah, in other words, other than Him, they do not possess even so much as the husk of a date-stone.

In other words, those unto whom you pray, those whom you worship instead of Allah, they are unable to own of all that even the white spot on a date stone, i.e., they possess nothing.

Cold Calling: the Myth of Cold Calling 2.0 and Other Urban Legends

Cold Calling: the Myth of Cold Calling 2.0 and Other Urban Legends

I receive Google Alerts daily on my favorite subject of conversation, cold calling, and I read them. I’m always on the lookout for an opportunity to contribute to a discussion on cold calling, sales, or any other related subject, especially if I can inject some self-promotion!

In the over four years that I’ve been following this subject, I’ve gotten very good at spotting trends, and there’s one that is popular right now: The idea of “Cold Calling 2.0.”

Whoever coined this term no doubt took the name from Web 2.0. However, the idea that cold calling is any different today than it was in the past is far-fetched and ignorant at best. In my opinion, attempting to dupe salespeople and small business owners that there is anything new or different about cold calling that might work in today’s economy is problematic at best, and downright unethical and dishonest at worst.

Here’s an example: I had a coaching call today with an individual who spent over four figures (yes, four figures!) on a package from one of these “Cold Calling 2.0” gurus. What was he taught for that obscene amount of money? To send e-mails to companies, pretending to ask for help, all with the lowly goal of learning who the contact person is.

Well, that’s a lot of effort – and a bit of lying – just to find out who the contact person is. After all, the sales interaction doesn’t even begin until that contact person is, well, contacted … and I’m guessing the recommended advice is the old, ineffective, obsolete cold call.

Let’s face it: A cold call is a cold call is a cold call. I don’t care if it’s a direct, in-your-face, old-school cold call, or a sneaky, pretend-to-be-someone-I’m-not-to-get-a-contact-name cold call. (And if all you have is a contact name, you still haven’t even made the cold call!)

Here are some key reasons why cold calling – whether it’s “old-school” style, or especially this sneaky “cold calling 2.0,” continues to become less and less effective as time goes on:

1. Cold calling lacks honesty and integrity. I’ve been talking a lot lately about honesty and integrity. They need to be the foundation for everything you do, end of story. Without building on those principles, nothing else you do will last for the long term. Sure, you might get a lead and maybe even a sale now and then by being sneaky and telling little white lies, but what will that do for your reputation and self-esteem in the long term?

I have many clients and students who now receive 100% of their business from referrals. Do you think this could be possible if they didn’t live and do business by the highest, utmost standards of honesty and integrity? No way.

A big part of the “cold calling 2.0” myth is using a new “angle” to cold call. Well, I hate to break it to you, but honest, ethical people don’t have to use “angles” or “gimmicks” to do business.

2. Cold calling provides zero value to others. Another subject that’s coming up a lot in my talks and programs lately is that of giving value first. If you give first, with no expectation of reward, and no strings attached to your giving of value, you will reap rewards like you’ve never dreamed possible. People will look up to you as a trusted business adviser, they will respect you, and they will see you in an entirely different light than your competition.

Here’s the clincher: You can’t give value first if your initial contact with a prospect is through a cold call. Instead of positioning yourself as a generous provider of value, all a cold call does is position you as a hungry salesperson who just wants to get a sale … with no regard to providing any value first. This is precisely why closing rates of leads that come from cold calling are the lowest of all, or as my friend and author Jeffrey Gitomer has said, “Cold calling has the lowest percentage of sales call success.” It’s also why prospects tend to trust cold callers far less than other salespeople – they wonder what’s wrong with you and your company that you have been forced to cold call – the last resort of a desperate salesperson – to drum up business. It doesn’t speak highly of you or of your company’s financial stability.

3. Cold calling strictly limits your income by time. Due to the sheer amount of time required to make enough cold calls to get enough qualified leads, you will never make a high income by cold calling. Think about it – with all the time it takes to run appointments, meet with prospects and customers, handle customer service issues, attend sales meeting, write proposals, prepare reports, attend training (including your own continuing education), and so on, how on earth are there enough hours in every week, day, and month to make all those cold calls? There simply aren’t! Sure, if your product or service is a great offer and you’re good at cold calling, you might manage to eek out 100% of quota and hang on to your job for another month, but do you really want to spend the rest of your life eeking out your quota and starting over again next month? Of course not! I assume if you’re taking the time to read this article, it’s because you’re focused and have high goals for your career and your life and want to make the big bucks!

You’re not going to make the big bucks cold calling. Even if you’re some kind of cold calling genius who can make it work, you’re going to severely limit yourself by time and never reach the six-figure and higher income brackets. The only way, and I really mean the only way, to achieve that is through leverage. You need to have lead-generation systems in place that work exponentially, and simultaneously, to generate the quality and quantity of leads you’ll need to have to make the big bucks. That’s what will open the doors to promotions to upper management, consulting opportunities, or my own path – becoming a bestselling author and speaker.

If you’re out in the ocean, you have two choices: Swim back to shore and live on, or tread water until you die. Cold calling, including the new, so-called “cold calling 2.0” tactics, are treading water. Do you want to break through and move to the next level and beyond, or do you want to continue treading water?

Hopefully those points clear up this idea of “cold calling 2.0” and expose that urban legend as just that – a legend. I’m tired of hearing from struggling salespeople who have spent hundreds, or in some cases, over a thousand dollars on these “new cold calling” courses, only to have them fail, spend a mere on my system, and find out it was the answer to their prayers. Save your money, use your brains, and think for yourself … and stop treading water with those ineffective and time-consuming cold calls!

Virgin Media Takes Sky to Court

Virgin Media Takes Sky to Court

Virgin Media (VM) has taken Sky to court in the latest step in the ongoing public row between the two companies.

Sky and Virgin Media fell out at the beginning of March over the price to be charged for the carriage of the Sky Basic Channels by the cable TV provider. The two sides failed to reach an agreement before the previous contract expired and as a result VM customers lost the Sky Basic Channels, including Sky One, Sky News and Sky Sports News.

The very public fall-out and subsequent channel loss led to customers of Virgin Media both criticising and supporting their own digital TV provider. Some of those who ended up disappointed at losing such channels immediately cancelled their contracts and switched to Sky, whilst others who showed their loyalty to VM were rewarded with discounted contracts and extra services.

However, despite no agreement being reached between the two companies, Virgin Media threatened to take Sky to the High Court to resolve the row and now has done so claiming Sky was abusing its dominant market position. Sky has denied doing so and has said that the action was “without foundation” and called on Virgin to resume negotiations. VM claims that Sky tried to double its prices for the Basic Sky Channels. However, Sky says the increase would have cost VM just 3 pence per customer per day.

It is not just the price of the Sky Channels which is being challenged. Virgin Media is also challenging the rates imposed by Sky for carrying Virgin’s TV channels. It is believed that Sky recently renegotiated the price it would pay for carrying channels such as LivingTV, Challenge and Bravo, before it announced that the price for its own channels to VM would be rising. Virgin Media is hoping that it will be able to get the Sky Channels at a lower price than is being asked for and at the same time increase the price it charges Sky for its own channels to bring them more in line with current market trends.

Virgin Media brought the action under the UK Competition Act 1998 and Article 82 of the EC Treaty.

“Sky, which accounts for almost 70% of the country’s pay TV subscribers, is dominant in the UK Pay TV market and has engaged in a strategy to stifle competition by using its dominance against Virgin Media,” the company said in a statement.

Sky denied the claims and its chief operating officer Mike Darcey said that they had invited VM to return to the negotiating table and that the services Sky was offering for the higher fee would have meant a “bigger and better choice” for customers. Sky say that along with the Sky Basic Channels they had offered to include Sky Three and Sky Arts along with On Demand and High Definition services to VM customers for the increased fee.

“Virgin Media is saving money as a result of this dispute but it hasn’t reduced prices. Millions of customers have lost access to the shows they enjoy and it is clear that many resent paying full prices for fewer channels,” Mr Darcy added.

The case is ongoing.

Pre Written Speeches Which you Can Turn to in your Hour of Need

Pre Written Speeches Which you Can Turn to in your Hour of Need

So, you’ve been asked to speak at a wedding. Already you can feel your knees shaking and your throat closing up so tightly that you can barely get a squeak out. This is a normal state of affairs for most people when they learn they have to give a speech of any kind, not only a wedding speech. The good thing about giving a wedding speech however, is the fact that you have at hand, pre written speeches which you can turn to in your hour of need.

These speeches are for the most part, works of art and depending on where you get them from, might even cost you an arm and a leg. But then again, what’s an arm and a leg if you can get up in front of a crowd of people secure in the knowledge that you have a doozy of a wedding speech to give.

This in fact, is the reason why so many people resort to using pre written speeches. For one thing, these have been written by professionals so you know that every penny you spend on them is good, and for another thing if you’re not one of the most literary minded people in the world then you don’t have the hassle of having to write out your speech – all you need to do is to use one of the many pre written speeches.

The one thing you need to be careful about when using pre written speeches however, is that your speech doesn’t end up sounding impersonal. This can very easily happen since none of these pre written speeches were written with you in mind. They are of a necessity a generic formula transformed into something that sounds wonderful, but which is also very impersonal.

So even if you use pre written speeches you might find that you still have to have change things around slightly to make the speech sound more like you, and definitely more personal. Just because you use pre written speeches it doesn’t mean that you have to stick with the formula exactly.

You can change things around slightly to better suit your own personal style of speaking. A tweak here and a small change to reflect your normal speech patterns will make all the difference to your speech, and no one will even know that you are using a pre written speech.

Just remember to substitute the real names of the bridal couple for the names given in the pre written speeches! You really wouldn’t want to say John and Lindsey, when you meant to say John and Danielle!
